Black Diamond "The Ultimate Tribute to KISS" was formed in the summer of 1994 in Vancouver, Canada. They have recently relocated to the entertainment capitol of the world, Las Vegas, Nevada. Over the last 7 years the band has been amazing audiences all over the globe portraying the greatest rock band in the world KISS.
Seven years and over one thousand shows later, Black Diamond has impressed Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley to the point of them talking about them on MTV and in magazines. Just recently in Las Vegas, Nevada, Gene Simmons himself called upon Black Diamond to promote his new KISS cartoon at NATPE 2002. KISS called on them again to put their signature makeup on models for the 2003 drag racing finals. For the last 7 years they have toured around the world playing countries such as Japan, Cayman Islands and covered Canada and The United States numerous times. Black Diamond appeared at Universal Studios, Hollywood performing for three weeks to more than 35,000 people. They also opened up for KISS in Dallas, TX. before the the original band decided to put their makeup back on.
Black Diamond portrays the 1977 era of KISS where they were at their performance and popularity peak. Black Diamond wears the Love Gun costumes but they play songs not only from that era but the best from 1974 to 1980 (see song list). The costumes were custom created to their exact specifications. (down to the number of rhinestones on Paul's necklace!)
Each member portrays their childhood idol and has thoroughly studied their playing style, mannerisms, voices and even autographs. The purpose of Black Diamond is to recreate the magic KISS created in the 70's and that is what they have done, creating new KISS fans around the world and amazing the die hard old ones. Each member has their own projects that have had success. Kurt Frohlich who portrays Ace Frehley and D. who portrays Gene Simmons are both members of the Las Vegas bands The Limey Bar Stewards and the touring metal tribute band Metal Shop. Todd Kerns who plays Paul Stanley was the frontman/singer for The Age of Electric and Static In Stereo who are both on Universal Records. Troy Powell who plays Peter Criss is the former drummer for Michael Bruce of the Alice Cooper Group and the east coast Kiss tribute Strutter. He has toured the world for the last 8 years.
